Caesar Rodney Dining Hall at University of Delaware

Equipment coordinated and installed by Singer | Ashland

Specifying team: Rodney White, Katie Huber, Sheila Bryan, Gary Shertzer, Karl Tessing, Jeff Nice

Anyone with experience in the education sector knows that feeding an entire student body is no easy task.

That’s why the University of Delaware approached Singer | Ashland with a unique but achievable challenge; to specify and install the equipment needed for providing nutritious meals to over 6,000 students per day with maximum efficiency.

The team at University of Delaware wanted to take it one step further by preparing food fresh in front of students, lending to a healthy, modern and sustainable cafeteria experience. After all, the dining hall is not estranged to accessible eco-innovation; the building was designed with a green roof that leads a path connecting it right to the bustle of Academy Street.

Equipment was carefully selected to outfit their new dining hall design, which debuted on campus in 2015. A few highlights include Alto-Shaam CombiTherm, Cook & Hold ovens with Halo Heat technology as well as an Alto-Shaam rotisserie.

At center stage, a Jade Island Cooking suite is outfitted with a six-burner range, hot top heavy duty range, drain cabinet, two gas fryers, a charbroiler gas range and  two refrigerated bases and more.

To keep service sparkling and sanitized, the kitchen uses Hobart warewashing equipment.

The list goes on for this impressive kitchen installation and showcases the breadth of customization available to any kitchen design, whether you’re serving sixty a night, or six thousand.
